Polyester, as one of the most widely used materials in synthetic fibers, occupies a dominant position in the field of industrial filter cloth due to its excellent comprehensive performance, and is widely adapted to the filtration needs of multiple industries.
In terms of application, polyester filter cloth is divided into two categories: short fiber and long fiber, suitable for different scenarios. Short fiber filter cloth is widely used in mining tailings filtration, chemical fine particle material treatment, sewage treatment and other scenarios that require high filtration accuracy due to its strong particle retention ability; Long fiber filter cloth, with its high-efficiency filtration advantage, is applied in scenarios such as metallurgical slag filtration, food juice clarification, and chemical solvent filtration. In addition, it is widely used in industries such as electricity, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.
The advantages of polyester filter cloth are very prominent. Firstly, it has high mechanical strength, good wear resistance, and can withstand high-pressure filtration pressure. Its service life can reach 3-5 years, and its cost-effectiveness is outstanding; Secondly, it has strong chemical stability, good resistance to weak acids and oxidation, and can adapt to most industrial neutral and weak acid filtration environments; Thirdly, it has excellent temperature resistance and can be used for a long time below 130 ℃, meeting the needs of most industrial working conditions. It also has stable dimensions and is not easy to shrink or deform.
Its disadvantages are also quite obvious. Polyester is not resistant to strong alkali and acid. Strong alkali at high temperatures can cause it to hydrolyze, reducing its strength; Short fiber filter cloth has poor breathability and cake stripping, which increases maintenance workload; Long fiber filter cloth has slightly lower interception accuracy and is not suitable for ultra-fine filtration scenarios. In addition, long-term exposure to sunlight can make it brittle and discolor, limiting its application in outdoor settings.
Overall, polyester filter cloth has balanced comprehensive performance and is suitable for most industrial filtration scenarios. Although it has certain limitations, it can be compensated for through process improvement and is still the preferred material for industrial filter cloth at present.
