During the entire tire production cycle, "isolation and protection" is the core function of tire pads, which avoids damage and pollution risks from the source and ensures stable tire quality.
1、 Tire stage: Protecting the "initial cleanliness" of uncured tire blanks
The uncured tire blank is composed of rubber, skeleton materials, and other composite materials. The surface rubber is in a viscous state, and the internal structure has not yet solidified, making it the most vulnerable stage to damage. At this point, the tire blank protective pad needs to act as a "protective barrier": on the one hand, when stacked and stored, the pad can isolate the adhesive surfaces of adjacent tire blanks, avoiding rubber adhesion to each other - without pad isolation, the separation of tire blanks can easily cause surface rubber tearing, forming irreversible scratches or missing rubber, directly affecting the appearance and strength of the tire after subsequent vulcanization molding; On the other hand, pollutants such as dust and residual lubricating oil in the production environment are prone to adhere to the surface of the tire blank, and the tight fit of the padding can prevent such impurities. In addition, the anti-static treatment of some padding can reduce dust adsorption and further enhance the protective effect of the tire blank.
2、 Sulfurization stage: Avoiding the risk of adhesion and friction under high temperature and pressure
Vulcanization is a key step in tire molding, which needs to be carried out in a high temperature and high pressure environment. At this time, the protective effect of vulcanization isolation pads is particularly critical. Firstly, the cushion cloth can isolate the tire from the vulcanization mold, avoiding direct contact between the melted rubber at high temperatures and the metal mold. If the rubber adheres to the mold, it can easily lead to missing rubber at the tire edges, incomplete tread patterns during demolding, and even require downtime to clean the mold, seriously affecting production efficiency; The release coating on the surface of the pad can reduce rubber adhesion, ensuring easy peeling after vulcanization without residual adhesive layer. Secondly, some vulcanization equipment needs to handle multiple tires simultaneously. The padding can separate adjacent tires to prevent them from rubbing against each other under high pressure, and to avoid scratches or deformations on easily worn parts such as the sidewall and shoulder.
